Dear Parents/Guardians,

Thank you for your recent attendance at your child’s report card conference. The conferences were a wonderful opportunity to learn about your child’s progress and performance in school. An important aspect of your child’s success in school is regular attendance and being on time. Attendance is noted on your child’s report card as it is a critical element in student achievement.

Regular school attendance is important because:

* It allows students to feel more at-ease in the learning environment.

* Students are less likely to fall behind in the classroom.

* Students are present for valuable class discussions, instruction, and projects.

* Special area subjects such as music, gym, and library are offered weekly and typically can’t be made up.

* Make-up work cannot replace daily attendance and the benefits of the classroom.

* It is a good habit that builds responsibility for a lifetime.

At any grade level (preschool thru high school), frequent absences can seriously affect your child’s school achievement.

There are, of course, legitimate reasons to miss school. Being sick is the major reason for school absences, as are family emergencies. Please notify school to report all absences.
